A Lifeline for Times of Trauma
Caring Bridge is a website started in 1997 with a mission of “build bridges of care and communication providing love and support on a health journey.” My first experience with it was with a friend about 10 years later. It is a simple and wonderful way to communicate with family and friends one time from one place – an efficient way to use your time.
When our lives were turned upside down by Dale’s stroke, Caring Bridge was of great assistance to me in updating many caring family and friends. I didn’t have to talk and repeat the same details over and over, but was able to silently communicate with scores of people in one telling even as I sat with Dale when needed quiet. It offers opportunity to share pictures as well, and Dale and I gained daily encouragement from so many people as we read comments together. The journal later served as a historical account of our journey.
